Comprehensive Curriculum and Assessments
© 2007 Safari Childcare, Inc. |
Safari Childcare recognizes no two families are alike which is why we offer customized programs to meet your family's individual needs. No matter which program you choose, you only pay for the days your child actually attends.
We also understand each child is unique and deserves personalized love and care from our staff. Therefore, we consider each child individually as we prepare our curriculum, design our classrooms, and complete our child assessments and daily notes.
Safari Childcare feels consistency between home and school is vital to your child's success. We therefore rely upon constant communication to bridge the gap between home and school. Safari Childcare truly values the relationship between parents and school and feels frequent communication is the best way to maintain positive relationships in the best interest of each child.
Communication vehicles include: v Daily Notes go home every day. Parents know right away about any significant achievements such as first words, first steps, or any special events that took place during the day. Notes also include times that diapers were changed, times that the child slept, and how/what the child ate.
Parent Teacher Conferences take place twice a year. This is a valuable time for one- on-one, uninterrupted dialogue about each child’s progress. Samples of the child’s artwork, writing, and other activities are collected for this occasion. Children are never compared to one another rather the child’s progress is compared to his or her own previous skills throughout the school year. Most importantly, conferences reinforce open communication between parents and teachers.
Parent/ Teacher Social Events include a children’s performance, refreshments, games, and family activities. Please join us for our: Winter Celebration (February), Graduation ceremony, (June) and Halloween Bash (October). These events provide a casual environment for getting to know the teachers and other parents, as well as your child’s school friends.
Parent Board: Each classroom has a parent board which lists what the children have eaten, their daily schedule, their weekly lesson plan, and any upcoming events or parent involvement opportunities. All classrooms are open to parent suggestions, so feel free to offer comments anytime. We believe parents should be integrally involved in their child's education. Therefore, we encourage parents to visit the school during the day whenever possible, to attend special events and to take an active role in their child's care and development. Safari Childcare is committed to encouraging open lines of communication between home and school at all times. Please feel free to come to us at anytime with your questions, concerns or compliments. We would be glad to discuss them with you.
Part of offering personalized care requires setting individual goals for each child. In an effort to ensure parents are kept involved, please make note of what we intend to focus on with your child. THE GOALS WE HAVE FOR YOUR CHILD:
1.
Development of self-esteem:
Before children can relate
to others they must first
2. Enhanced socialization skills: It takes opportunity and guidance for children to learn to function in a group. Safari Childcare provides this opportunity and guidance in order to help children develop the desired qualities of: sharing, helping others, understanding, and acceptance of one another’s differences. Safari Childcare also provides initial experiences for children to relate to adults other than parents. Development from an egocentric to a socio-centric view of life is fundamental to future development for pre-schoolers.
3.
Love: At Safari
Childcare we like to use words like "warm", "secure"
4. Interactive Environment: Learning generally occurs through interaction with other people or through the exploration of new things. Safari Childcare provides an age and developmentally appropriate environment for children to express themselves verbally and emotionally while encouraging them to interact and discover the world around them. In the process, children learn to share, cooperate, and get along with others.
5. Development of Skills and Concepts: We believe children will learn the "academic" skills of reading, writing, and number concepts when they are ready to do so. We subscribe to this concept with the result that no child is forced to deal with these areas until they are developmentally ready. Safari Childcare incorporates fun learning activities in order to help develop skills for the children without forcing them to partake in concepts which would frustrate them or make them feel inadequate in any way. We also focus on language development, hygiene and self-help skills and social interactionin order to help children feel more secure.
6. Motor development: We provide activities to develop muscle skills on a daily basis. Playground activities, music and movement, gymnastics, and dance are examples of some of the types of activities we provide to help develop large gross motor skills. Lacing games, puzzles, painting, and manipulatives are examples of activities we provide to help develop fine motor skills. |
